....and not a happy ending......not even an ending… ..yet…
This is any dog owners nightmare...it started in September – read the first paragraph.  And it continues… so after the first paragraph,  there is an abbreviated sequence of events with the most recent on top.  …read on…

al-hex 4September 26, 2011 - Alpha, IL - Hex, a 7 yr-old sable German shepherd is more than a prize winning champion, he is a beloved companion.  This stunning, highly trained dog went missing on Monday, September 26. His owner, Al Govednik, believes that someone stole Hex.

The incident occurred early Monday morning while Govednik was taking out the trash. Hex was by his guardian's side, as usual.  In the brief moment that Govednik stepped into his home to grab another bag of trash, his dog Al-hex 1went missing. A van was seen driving away. Govednik believes that someone knew his routine - and waited for an opportune moment to make their move to steal the champion dog.

All Govednik wants is his dog back - no questions asked. Anyone who has seen Hex is asked to contact:algovfh@yahoo.com or call (309) 235-7450.

Hex is 7 years of age, he has a tattoo (#07098) and an Avid microchip #011855311.

Below are events in reverse order
with the most recent immediately below the line.

October 15, 2011:  There was a new Facebook group started this week that has formed specifically to put (and I quote) “pressure on the MEDIA to do a story about this horrible ending to a wonderful dog's career and to a family's beloved pet. Just like well trained K-9 Officers. We bring their killers to Justice. This person/people that took HEX and Killed him should be brought to JUSTICE as well.. “ To join it click:  Justice for Hex.   Marcia Govednik wrote:  I want to thank everyone Tucker, Lori and Patti and the rest of you working to bring Justice to our Hex. Al and I appreciate everyone's effort in this cause. We are so humbled from everyone's help.

October 12, 2011 – News Story:  Champion German Shepherd found dead.  From the story: "Severely beaten head to tail, 12 broken bones including a crushed skull and it all happened post-mortem, so he was already dead," said Hex's owner Al Govednik.

October 11, 2011 – Jeff Govednik posted: The preliminary results of the necropsy point toward foul play. We will be changing the statement on the reward to reward for information leading to conviction of responsible individuals. Again please we don't need speculation. We will be working with the Henry County Sheriffs Office as well as a private investigator.   Again we do not want any speculation. If you have information we will list a contact soon.

 – Posted on the United Schutzhund Clubs of America website:  On October 8th, 2011, Al Govednik's Champion FH and family companion Hex was finally found after having been reported stolen on September 26. Unfortunately, Hex was not alive when he was found. Thanks to everyone for the help and support given to the Govednik family in an attempt to have Hex returned tHex-braceletso them alive.
A website has been set up by those that wish to help the Govednik's with the expenses that were and still are being incurred. The money raised will go to help defray the costs incurred by the Govedniks in their search for Hex. In addition, the money raised will be used to offset the costs of Hex's autopsy and the continued investigation into his disappearance and death.

It is a shame as to what extreme some people will go to in order to "get even"... The body was positioned perfectly so it would be found on training day at the Govedniks. - how cruel are these person/persons ? I weep...... our hearts are broken...
